British Airways World Cargo to Increase Fuel Surcharge (06/10/2005)

A further increase to its fuel surcharge was announced today by British Airways World Cargo today. The surcharge will be GBP 0.37/kg / USD 0.55/kg / EUR 0.55/kg, with effect from 20th October.

The fuel surcharge increase follows a second consecutive week that the fuel index has been above the level 11 threshold. The index was developed by BA World Cargo to provide customers with more information about the calculation of fuel surcharges. It is updated on a weekly basis and posted on the British Airways World Cargo website.

Keith Packer, Senior Vice President Commercial, said: "As a result of continued pressure from climbing fuel costs and concerns over hurricane storm damage to oil refineries, our business costs are rising and it is necessary for us to increase the fuel surcharge at this time."
