BA World Cargo appoints new Managing Director (25/01/2007)

BA World Cargo today announced the appointment of Steve Gunning as managing director, with effect from 2 April 2007. The appointment follows the promotion of previous managing director, Gareth Kirkwood, to director of operations at British Airways.

Steve commented: "This is an exciting time for the air cargo industry and I relish the challenges that this role will present me with. I look forward to working with the cargo leadership team at BA World Cargo to further build on the company's achievements and continue to strengthen relationships with customers around the globe, reaffirming BA World Cargo's reputation as a leading cargo carrier."

Steve joined British Airways in 1998 and became head of finance at BA World Cargo in 2004. During his two years in that role, he gained significant experience in the business and the industry. For the past year Steve has been head of internal control and a member of the British Airways finance leadership team.

Gareth Kirkwood, director of operations, British Airways, said: "In the last few years, BA World Cargo has gone from strength to strength with unprecedented investment in new infrastructure, facilities, products and services, which have significantly improved our customer proposition.
