Fuel surcharge increase (19/07/2007)
British Airways World Cargo today announced an increase to its fuel surcharge. The surcharge will be GBP0.40/kg / USD0.60/kg / EUR0.60/kg, with effect from 2 August 2007.
The fuel surcharge has now reached level 12 following a second consecutive week that the fuel index has been above the level 12 threshold. The index was developed by BA World Cargo to provide customers with more information about the calculation of fuel surcharges. It is updated on a weekly basis and posted on the carrier's website.
Chris Bosworth, general manager commercial development, said: "The market remains under intense pressure from climbing fuel costs, which directly impact the costs of providing airfreight. It is regrettable but necessary for us to increase our fuel surcharge in line with our fuel index."
