British Airways World Cargo announces new Cargo Leadership Team (24/07/2001)

Gareth Kirkwood, Managing Director of British Airways World Cargo has announced the introduction of a new, significantly flatter, organisational structure designed to give the business a clearer focus and direction.

A new Cargo Leadership Team replaces the previous Cargo Executive Team. This is designed to enable greater flexibility and reduce bureaucracy, giving clearer lines of communication and improving the speed of decision-making, by making it easier for people across the business to be heard.

"It is vital that we have the best possible team in place to drive the strategic direction of the business. We have made huge strides forward in recent years, but I believe that this team will re-energise and refocus the business," said Gareth Kirkwood.

"As an industry we are facing a very challenging year. However, at British Airways World Cargo, we have invested heavily over the past few years and have built a business capable of delivering world-class service. Under the guidance of the Cargo Leadership Team I believe that British Airways World Cargo will be in a strong position to capitalise when the market picks up.

"The Cargo Leadership Team will bring a fresh, energetic approach to take the business forward to a new stage, with strong top level focus on the strategic direction of the business, customer service and greater involvement from our regional operations," Gareth Kirkwood concluded.

Keith Packer becomes Senior Vice President Global Sales and Marketing
Kevin Steele becomes General Manager Commercial Development
Ian Herbert becomes General Manager Strategy and Quality
Paul Burton becomes Project Director Ascentis
Pat Pearse becomes General Manager Customer Service and Operations
Mike Porteous becomes General Manager People
Mark Harrison remains General Manager Business Support
