BA World Cargo adds capacity in China (02/06/2005)
Yesterday, Wednesday 1 June 2005, British Airways World Cargo added capacity
in China with the launch of direct line flights from London Heathrow to
Shanghai's Pudong Airport.
The five Boeing 777 flights a week will complement the twice weekly B747-F freighter
service that BA World Cargo introduced on this route in September 2004. As
well as offering increased capacity and frequency into the British Airways
network, spanning nearly 200 destinations in over 80 countries, these new
services give customers access to BA World Cargo's time sensitive,
value-added Express and Courier products.
Keith Packer, Senior Vice President Commercial, BA World Cargo said: "We
invested more in our network than ever before when we added a fourth
freighter to our schedule last September, enabling us to provide the first
direct freighter service from the UK to Shanghai. The addition of line
flights at this stage reinforces BA World Cargo's commitment to this region.
They strengthen our service in one of the fastest growing markets in the
world, providing customers with greater flexibility and choice when
arranging shipments."
