BA World Cargo looks forward to OpenSkies (18/06/2008)

From 19 June, British Airways' US-EU subsidiary airline OpenSkies will begin flying daily from New York to Paris, with British Airways World Cargo selling cargo capacity on the flights.

The Boeing 757 will operate out of JFK and Orly airports, and the airline has plans for a second aircraft to be added to the fleet later this year, flying to Brussels. The long term plan is to operate six Boeing 757s by the end of 2009, all of which will be sourced from the current British Airways' fleet. The aircraft will have winglets retro-fitted to improve fuel efficiency, reduce CO2 emissions and increase the aircraft's operating range.

Steve Gunning, managing director, said: "We anticipate this being a key route for our Prioritise and Courier products in particular, and we are confident that our customers will benefit from the extra capacity. This is an exciting time for the industry and we look forward to more services later in the year."
