Statement on fuel surcharge (17/07/2008)

British Airways World Cargo has announced an increase to its fuel surcharge. The surcharge will be GBP0.87 / USD1.35 / EUR1.35, with effect from 31 July 2008.

The fuel surcharge increase follows a second consecutive week that the fuel index has been above the level 27 threshold. The index was developed by BA World Cargo to provide customers with more information about the calculation of fuel surcharges. It is updated every week and posted on this website.

Adam Carson, senior manager revenue management, said: "With the price of fuel continuing to escalate, it is necessary for us to increase our fuel surcharge in line with the index."
