Courier Services
Retail Courier - Some countries insist on courier material being accompanied by a passenger (onboard courier) flying on the same aircraft, with the Courier Company responsible for purchasing the ticket for the onboard Courier.
Wholesale Courier - material is delivered by a Courier Company to the British Airways World Cargo facility or Passenger terminal. From here World Cargo carries the material on your behalf to the designated destination. This service is offered airport-to-airport only. It is the responsibility of the Courier Company to make the necessary presentations to customs at either end of the route.
What is a Courier Baggage Voucher (CBV)?
The CBV acts as a receipt for the acceptance of material and also as a basis for the invoice from British Airways World Cargo to the customer. Our 'Conditions of Contract' are printed on the reverse of the CBV, including our liability limits for all goods accepted by British Airways World Cargo.
Courier material will only be accepted for travel if accompanied by a CBV, whether its destination is international or domestic. This is a legal requirement and there are no exceptions.
How to complete a CBV
- The address of the consignor and consignee and the contact name and telephone number and British Airways World Cargo account number must be completed.
- In those cases where a Courier accompanies the material, it is essential that the box marked 'H' is ticked and that the passenger's name and ticket number are completed.
- The respective boxes must be ticked for 'Documents' and/or 'Dutiables'.
- Every CBV presented must be signed in the appropriate area.
- All EEC countries to complete the section regarding 'Community Goods'. It is the responsibility of the Courier Company to complete this.
- All through transhipment bags for EEC destinations must have EEC Status Codes.
- Transhipments are automatically through tagged from origin to final destination.
Acceptance guidelines for Courier
Courier material can be carried inside any plastic, canvas or hessian sack, which is sufficiently large and strong to carry the various items from a consignor to a consignee between airports. Each bag can weigh no more than 32kgs. There is no maximum consignment weight, it is only restricted by the availability of space on the aircraft.
All courier bags must be securely tied at the neck of the bag. All bags should be tagged and labelled appropriately to ensure that all regulations and procedures are complied with at origin and destination.
